English text between pics. This time translation is not direct. English version is meant mostly to my foreign readers, since methods are very different all over the world. Judgement in various classes is still the same worldwide in international competitions. Competing international is not our goal, only national. Maybe You won't like my text this time - just skip reading if you don't :) We Finns always say what we think. In spite of all travelling in my life, I still don't like small talk, just honest opinion with backgrounds checked out.

Oletkin varmaan Facebookissa nähnyt näitä kuvia jo aiemmin. No, ei haittaa. Paljoa tämän pidemmällä emme vielä tottiksessa olekaan. Hallikausi on ohi, ja olemme siirtyneet jäisille pihapoluille. Käytössä palkkana ovat sekä kissanraksut ja nakit , että pallo. Nakkipalkalla mennään pidemmät seuruupätkät ja käännökset molempiin suuntiin - niin ja sivulta täyskäännökset. Samaan kastiin kuuluvat liikkeestä pysähdykset ja jäävien esiasteet. Minä peruutan sekä istumisesta että maahanmenosta edelleen noin 10 metriä, ja palaan koiran luokse. Maassa paikallaolo ei vielä ole oikein hallinnassa. Siihen tarvitsen apuohjaajan. Ei sen puoleen apuohjaajaa tarvitsen muutenkin, vaan eipä ole. Olen päättänyt etten todellakaan tee samoja virheitä tämän Paso Boyn kanssa kuin sen äidin Magin. Magihan tekee kaiken teknisesti oikein, mutta nyt vasta on saatu tunnetilat ja viettitaso kohdalleen. Luin sellaisenkin kommentin sosiaalisessa mediassa, että tekniikan osaaminen on vain noin 10 %. Koulutuksesta, tunnetila, vireystaso, ja vietti ovat ne loput 90 %. En enää muista kurssin pitäjän nimeä, koska en itse ollut opinahjossa mukana, mutta uskon täysin.

I would like to share these pics with you. This is how far we are now. Heeling is with treats in longer distances, turning both right and left, and full turn from left side. I also use treats in sit- and stay-movements, when I back about 10 meters from Paso. Laying down is not in order yet. Just wait and see :). Our training season in indoors hall is over, and spring is supposed to be here already, but no! Maybe we move direct to Christmas???? In the first pic you see that Paso is not in correct place, he should be more near to my leg, and contact to my eyes through my armpit, not through stomach.
I have to mention, that in one Fb-group, where I belong, there was a pic of about same age GSD with a professional trainer. Puppy was avoiding the trainer quite strongly and even lifting her/his front leg up in the air - uncertainty. The owner said this is super, or something like that. Not exactly. Paso's heeling with treats is quite good. When power comes from hind legs, the front feet will come up. Exactly like in dressage riding.

On se jännä miten olin aina ihmetellyt kuinka koiran saa nostamaan nuo etukinttunsa. Oppi ja ikä kaikki - aika monta vuotta siinä onkin mennyt :) Onneksi meillä on niin super treenariguru Päpä, että kun minulle vanhaan hataraan päähän selitettiin juttu ratsastuksen kautta niin johan kolahti!
Training contact with a ball
There are many different ways to train GSD, and I only write from my point of view. Here in Finland we usually belong to a dog club, which are everywhere. The annual fee is about 30 to 100 euros, training is free under a trainer. This occurs of course for us "normal" persons, training home obedience, or heading to competitions. The more advanced and regularly competing trainers in championship or international level, take a small fee for one's guidance. We always train our dogs under a trainer's guidance, ourselves in the other end of leash. Those competing on international levels can also take dogs for training at some fee (not sure how much). As I have understood from belonging to a GSD group, and from my trainers stories from abroad, training can cost up top 3000 USD per dog. Gee, how expensive! The point is, that someone else trains your dog. Why? Maybe because some of the dog owners are not skilled themselves, or have "flowers in their head" I understand it.
The point is that every country have their own culture, in dog world also.
Anyway: I think that it's almost the same thing hiring a dog walker, because one prefers to sit on the couch watching TV, and eating hamburgers, pizza, candies, chips and drinking Coke, while getting fat. Laziness, I call that.
I myself find this dog sport very interesting, and I'm very eager to learn how to train my both dogs. I never use any extra equipment, only chain collar locked in not strangling position. In Germany, you mostly have to climb certain steps to get a excellent goal man or/as a trainer, and prove yourself qualified, and that of course costs - or not. If you are good enough you get into inner circle, then it's trainers ambition as well to guide you forward for free, or at very low costs. I was just wondering that what's the point to hire someone to train your dog, who then ignores your commands, at least partly. Isn't it supposed to be quality time together, and bond the trust between you and the dog more and more ? Who competes with those dogs then?

I heard that Finland , Sweden and Norway at least (do not know of Denmark) maybe are the only countries, where training is practically free. Suits me fine. No wonder that Finns have won gold medals, and other glory in WUSW ( I had nothing to do with that, and cannot take any glory ;) Hahaah. Finnish trainers are very skillful, and ambitious. They are asked abroad to train top dogs in bite work all the time. We are an ambitious small nation :), living in this freezelandia. Hih . I'm only hobbyist: loving tracking in the woods and in the fields, plus obedience. Giving my GSDs shelter (my couches), quality food, fresh water from my own 69 meters deep well to drink, long walks, freedom in my yard, affection and love, but still I'm a pack leader.

Meinasi mennä herne nenään yhden saksanpaimenryhmän kahden tyypin kanssa. Siinä sokea Reetta neuvoi toista samanlaista kolmenkymmenen vuoden koiranpito kokemuksella. Ruokinta-asiasta en edes viitsi mainita - palaan ehkä aiheeseen myöhemmin. Sen sijaan melkoinen yllätys oli kuulla mitä jenkkilässä maksetaan koiran kouluttamisesta. Yli 3000 koiralta. Jestas! Tuossa englanninkielisessä versiossa hieman kerroinkin asiasta ja saan taatusti vihat niskoilleni. Tosiasiahan on, että valtameren takana halutaan kaikki valmiista pöydästä, niin myös koirapuolella. Ei edes sen vertaa vaivauduta, että vietäisiin itse koirat lenkille. Siihen palkataan joku vierastyöläinen. Hävytöntä laiskuutta. Ilmankos sitä köllötellään teeveen ääressä napostelemassa hampurilaisia, pitsaa, sipsejä ja hörpätään röyhtäillen kokista päälle. Vaa'assa vaan numerot kasvaa ja vaatekoko on jotain 10 x XL. Olen muuten joutunut kerran lentokoneessa istumaan kahden jättikokoisen nuoren daamin keskellä. Aika littana olo!

Pallopalkka kainalosta vasta nyt, kun saalisvietti on kunnolla auki. Seuraamiset vasta muutaman askeleen - palkka, kontakti oikein kainalolinjasta silmiin - palkka. Inspiraatio loppui kirjoittamisen suhteen juuri nyt. Terve !
